Anne Powers

Anne Powers is a lifelong fine artist who became “the accidental writer". Riven from her studio by circumstance with only a laptop for company, bits of word and story ended up layered like collage into a highly visual writing style. Her education includes an MFA in Graphic Design  and a BFA in Painting from the University of Tennessee, and study in Illustration at the Art Students League in New York City. She was head of a college art department for 35 years, taught a wide variety of art media, and most recently taught and wrote curriculum in the New Media program (now Digital Media Academy) at Stanford University. After an award winning career in fine art which included a major award in the American Watercolor Society, Anne turned to the world of Digital Art and 3D  Animation. She won Best in Show in MacXibition 1996, a national multimedia competition, notable because the winning piece features extensive writing by the artist. Anne Powers has authored four editions of an art textbook used worldwide, published by CMP and Focal Press.
